27 Life Lessons I Wish I Knew Earlier 🎂
I recently turned 27. Here's what I'd tell my younger self.
Hey y’all,
I’m officially an unc! In celebration of turning 27, here are 27 life lessons I would tell my younger self:
Listen to your English teacher. Clear communication will serve you for life.
Wear sunscreen even when it’s cloudy. Extra UV protection never hurt anyone.
Limit your resume to one page. Doesn’t matter if you cure cancer. One page.
Find three hobbies: one to stay in shape, one to make money, and one that people call weird.
Cold email people you admire. Your youth and curiosity can take you further than you expect.
Lower the volume on your headphones. Your hearing does not come back.
Wait three hours before sending a heated text. Impulse messages always backfire.
Take compliments with confidence. Say thank you and move on.
Call your parents more often during college. They miss you.
Start investing the moment you turn 18… if you want to retire young.
Post cringe videos. Worst case, you’ll collect memories. Best case, you’ll find a career.
Get TSA PreCheck. You’ll feel like royalty at the airport.
Pick up a fiction book once in a while. Most self-help books say the same thing anyways.
Get a Costco membership in college. Great prices and even better hot dogs.
Step outside as soon as the sun comes out. It’s the fastest way to boost your mood.
Stop skipping leg day. Get a gym partner if you need to.
Say yes to the spontaneous trip. Pricey tickets but priceless memories.
Never use upspeak. Especially when talking to a crowd.
Learn a few phrases in your native language. Helps with talking to the grandparents.
Spend less time staring at your face. Your acne doesn’t define your relationships.
Study less. After a certain point, you’re better off sleeping.
Tailor your formalwear. It’s cheap and makes you look 10x better.
Journal. Especially when you’re upset, angry, or anxious
Eat enough fiber. You are probably not eating enough fiber.
Walk into your siblings’ rooms for no reason. They’re pretty cool once you get to know them.
Never mine straight down. And I’m not just talking about Minecraft
